The Alignment Tool page shows a 900-foot range, regardless of sensor type.
Note
This screen is purely a visualization tool and does NOT modify the sensor configura-
tion in any way. The range scale along the right side of the display is sensorcentric
(i.e. range starts at 0 and goes to 600 ft).
Below is a list and description of the alignment tool features:
Roll – e angle that the sensor is rotated using the backplate center axis (clockwise =
positive; counter clockwise = negative).
Target X – e target distance as shown in Figure 1.3 and Tables 1.1 and D.1 (see Chap-
ter 1 and Appendix D). is is the downstream distance of the target location (beam
hot spot). e target is depicted on the roadway view with cross-hairs and a light-green
color.
Target Y – e oset as shown in Figure 1.3 and Tables 1.1 and D.1 (see Chapter 1 and
Appendix D).
The Approach Width – is value allows you to make the virtual roadway (blue lines)
wider or narrower to match the width of the approach.
Pan – e angle that the sensor is rotated about its vertical axis (right = positive; le
= negative).
Tilt – e angle that the sensor is rotated about its horizontal axis. Only down angles
(negative angles) are supported.
Note
A properly-scaled screen capture of the footprint drawing can be used as an overlay
on roadway CAD drawings.
Serial Terminal
Click the Serial Terminal icon to start the Serial Terminal tool. e serial terminal provides
a rudimentary terminal interface that can be used to communicate with the sensor using a
com port (see Figure 11.10).
