Connect the PC and the switch using a suitable RS-232 (V.24) cable (PRG CAB MINI DIN).
Once you have made the connection, press Ctrl + L on your keyboard. e switch then
requests the screen contents.
User Interface Functions
If you open the user interface in the rst ve seconds directly aer a switch restart, you
have the option of triggering a rmware update. Since the actual switch rmware is not
yet started at this stage—even in the event of an error, e.g. if the rmware on the device is
faulty—this rmware can still be updated (see the Starting With Faulty Soware section of
this chapter).
e following functions are available in the user interface:
Setting IP parameters
Selecting the addressing mechanism
Resetting to default settings
Activating/deactivating the Web server, Rapid Spanning Tree, SNMP interface, and the
Telnet function.
Note
The activation/deactivation of the Web server only takes eect after a SAVE and
subsequent restart.
